The gritty backdrop of a company in Philly during the recession of 2008 and its effect on the American psyche, “Workforce” has you on the edge as you follow Rich Henkels' masterful portrayal of the lead character's return to ‘normalcy’ after hitting rock bottom. Never knowing who to trust in this snapshot of a struggling business with its cast of unpredictable characters, each odd and banal all at once, and perfectly cast, “Workforce-The Pilot,” leaves you wanting to binge the rest in one sitting. Think, The Office, with a heaping dose of reality and a touch of creepy.
“Workforce” is a funny, smart, and timely story of America struggling with itself. The pilot begins as we meet Anthony Scolari (Rich Henkels), an out-of-work executive as he searches for a job. As we see Scolari battling with his own demons, he interviews for the fourth time for a General Manager position in a failing company. ... From start to finish, “Workforce” gives an honest appraisal and human look at the American dream, disenchanted with itself.
The solid ensemble cast is deftly led by Rich Henkels and includes strong performances by Bob Heath, Jr., Rosalyn Charles, Michael Johnson, Deanna Fontanez, Erin Ashley, Mike Sutton, Chris Evans, Palmer Ashe III, Cindy Hurley, Natasha Josette, and Kim Tran.
